High School Diploma Program - General

Student Qualifications
Southpointe Adult High School provides educational services for students who are Utah residents, 18 years of age or older and did not graduate from high school.

Students determine which type of diploma they want to earn:  an Adult High School Diploma OR a Utah High School Completion Diploma through General Educational Development (GED) testing.

Orientation & Registration
Students must register at the beginning of each quarter or session to attend SPHS.  New students must attend a three-hour Orientation & Registration Session before attending classses. Students must bring the following to the Orientation & Registration Session:

Continuous Student Registration Form
For students who have previously attended
Southpointe Adult High School

New Student Registration Form
For students who have never attended
Southpointe Adult High School.

  1. Documentation of Utah Residency (State ID, Driver's license, Utililty bill etc.)
  2. Transcripts from the last high school attended
  3. $50--cash or check-- for Semester Tuition and Fees
  4. New Student Registration Form (completed)

Assessment
All students are required to take the TABE Assessment (Test of Adult Basic Education) prior to attending classes. They also need to provide a copy of your transcripts from the last high school you attended. Make sure you have these when you register, or arrange to have them faxed to 801-256-5955.

TabeWhen you register, you will take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Assessment, and then schedule an appointment with a guidance counselor to have your transcripts evaluated. Basic areas of reading, language and mathematics will be evaluated by the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).

The Guidance Counselor will discuss with you what credits you need to earn your high school diploma. the ways to earn those credits (classes, personalized study and/or online computer classes)

Four Ways to Earn Credits

  1. Personalized Assisted Student Studies (PASS) packets
  2. Online courses using NovaNet--a program which allows students to earn credit in various subjects from any computer via the Internet.
  3. SPHS evening classes which begin each quarter
  4. Work study credit
