GED Test Content & Credentials

Southpointe Adult High School is an official GED Testing site and offers GED tests in English and Spanish. Beginning July 1, 2012 the test is $120 for all five sections or $24 per section. The test takes up to eight hours to complete and has the following five content areas:

              Part 1 - Solving multiple choice problems using a calculator
              Part 2 - Solving problems without a calculator

Earning a Credential
To pass the GED Tests, a test taker must earn an average of 450 but not less than 410 points on any area of the test.  Test results will arrive in the mail 7 to 10 days after the test date.  Results may also be accessed through the email account used to register with the National GED Testing Service.

GED Test Retakes
If minimum scores are not earned on each content area of the test, individuals may retest on sections not passed. Retakes must be scheduled with Diane Staley at 801-256-5952 at SPHS.  A minimum of three weeks from the previous test must pass before retakes can be administered.  A $15 cancellation fee will be assessed for failure to cancel (or reschedule) and no show for retakes.  The maximum number of times per year for GED retests is three.  All areas must be passed before the end of the year to have all sections count.

Beginning July 1, 2012 Retakes cost $24 each for Language Arts/Writing Content Area, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts/Reading, or Math
