English Language Learning (ELL)
The Jordan School District English Language Learning (ELL) Program offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced level classes to adults of any nationality. Emphasis is placed on English speaking, listening comprehension, writing, reading comprehension and technology skills.
ELL Semester Classes
Classes are taught on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday Evenings (September-May) from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in Southpointe High School located in the Jordan Academy of Technology and Careers (JATC) on the SLCC Jordan Campus. Students may enter at the beginning of any session, after registering online during the enrollment period. Tuition is $25 for each session and $25 for textbook/workbook combo (charged once per school year).
Each session is approximately 12 weeks.
1st session: September – November
2nd session: January – March
3rd session: April – Mid June.
Orientation & Registration Sessions
Orientation & Registration links ELL REGISTRATION:
SESSION #1: August 12 - 15, 2024 or until class is full
SESSION #2: December 9 - 12, 2024
SESSION #3: March 3 - 6, 2025.
These orientations are held before each session take approximately two hours to complete. Sessions are held in Southpointe High School located in the Jordan Academy of Technology and Careers (JATC) on the SLCC Jordan Campus.
Individuals must bring the following with them to the orientation and registration session:

$25 tuition for each session plus $25 for textbook/workbook combo (charged once per school year).

Proof of Utah Residency – State ID, Driver’s License, Utility Bill with your name and local address, etc.
ELL students will fill out the Class Registration Form and take the CASAS STEPS assessments, which are aligned with the English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards for Adult Education and include 5 test levels. These tests include skills relating to Basic Communication, Consumer Economics, Community Resources, Health, Employment, Government, and Law. Skills are assessed in two areas:
- Reading
- Listening
